Dr. Pennante Naa Ayikailey Bruce-Vanderpuije is a Research Scientist at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research- Water Research Institute, Ghana. Penny obtained her doctorate degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo, New York, USA, in 2019, an MSc. Environmental Policy and Management at the University of Gloucestershire, UK, in 2011, and a bachelor’s degree at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. 

Research Interests

Penny’s interests include researching into environmental and human impacts of persistent organic pollutants, toxic contaminants such as heavy metals and emerging contaminants on vulnerable populations such as e-waste workers, pregnant women, lactating mothers, firefighters, and the general population. Penny’s experience includes studies on her home country- Ghana, where she and her colleagues have partnered with local residents to investigate environmental contamination in a number of communities.
