Mr. Collins Okrah holds MSc. Degree in Geophysics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi-Ghana, in July 2009 and BSc in Physics as well as Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana, in August 1998.Ā  He engaged himself with teaching at Sunyani SHS until August 2009, when he joined the CSIR Water Research Institute, Groundwater Division, as a researcher and rose through the ranks to Senior Research Scientist.

Mr. Okrah has carried out several contract research and consultancy services to governmental, non-governmental agencies, companies, public/private institutions, communities and individuals in the areas of subsurface geophysical/hydrogeological investigations for borehole construction and geotechnical application for (high rise) buildings/towers construction, aquifer delineation and groundwater flow characterization, groundwater level fluctuation monitoring for the assessment of groundwater potential and the vulnerability of shallow aquifers to pollution by means of environmental impact assessment on groundwater quality.

His related field of interest among others is strategic planning of water resources management for sustainable utilization to make Integrated Water Resources Management Strategy achievable, community sensitization of water security and sanitation. Other activities include advisory services on groundwater abstraction and adoption of suitable treatment methods as well as geospatial analysis of groundwater potential in the various hydrogeological terrains in the country. He contributed to a number of chapters in renowned book publications and published technical papers in reputable local and international journals. He has reviewed a number of articles for publication in local journals such as the Journal of the Ghana Science Association.

He sat on a number of committees of CSIR Water Research Institute and he is a member of professional associations such as Ghana Institution of Geoscientists (GhIG) and had the opportunity to serve on the National Executive Committee of the Research Staff Association of the CSIR. Mr. Okrah has strong team spirit and results oriented person, who collaborates effectively with his colleagues and Supporting Technical Staff to achieve excellent results in all research activities. He is currently undertaking a course at KNUST leading to PhD in Engineering Geology.
